Travel schedule

For those booking flights to Kansas City, please note our general schedule for RailsConf has us starting our days around 9:30-10am and ending them around 6pm. Registration on Day 1 (Wed, May 4) will open approximately two hours before programming begins. On Day 3 (Fri, May 6), we will be ending programming around 5-6pm. All three days are full days of programming; we will not be having any workshop- or tutorial-only days.

Hotel info

Our RailsConf 2016 conference hotel is the Crowne Plaza KC Downtown. It's perfectly situated, one block from our conference venue (the KCCC) and one block from Kansas City's happening Power and Light District, which is chock full of restaurants, bars, and shops.

Book Your Room

We have now SOLD OUT all three of our conference hotel blocks.

While our blocks are all fully booked, you may be able to find some hotels in the area that still have availability here.

Getting around

When you arrive at the Kansas City airport, we've arranged for a special rate ($13/person pre-booked, $15/person for day-of) with 5 Guys, a private van company that will take RailsConf attendees into the city! Either go here to book ahead of time, or just look for the RailsConf drivers and vans at Baggage Claim. There will be many vans there on Tue, May 3, but if you need one for a different date, just pre-book. Taxis are not allowed to park outside baggage claim, but can be summoned via one of the courtesy phones.

Kansas City

Kansas City sits on Missouri's western edge, straddling the border with Kansas. It's known for its barbecue, jazz heritage and fountains. Downtown, the American Jazz Museum shares a building with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, with giant shuttlecocks out front, houses a world-class art collection. So enjoy RailsConf and be sure to take in this amazing city!
